Windows routing tables

I have a recurring issue on some of our windows xp machines in the routing table. The machines intermittently add a route to 10.0.0.0, which doesn’t exist on our network. The machines can’t connect to our mail server on a 10.10.x.x address until the 10.0.0.0 route is deleted. How can we prevent this route from intermittently reocurring?
