Windows Search Question

by locolobo . Updated 16 years, 10 months ago

Is there a way to limit the size of the index file Windows Search creates?

Here’s my problem. One of my Windows 2003 file servers reported that the C Drive was full. This server has two drives, the C drive is 12gb and the D drive is 250gb.

The Search index on the C drive was 6gb! That seemed excessive. The index was larger than the files it was indexing! I couldn’t figure out how to limit the file size though. So I moved it to the D drive where the data is.

It seems like there ought to be a way to limit the file size used by Search. I really don’t want to find out it ate my data drive.
