Windows Server 2000 Enterprise Edition

We will be introducing a new IBM server into a Windows 2000 Enterprise Domain. The plan is to introduce the IBM running 2003 standard (non Enterprise) promo it up as the primary server and remove the old HP server running 2000 Enterprise edition. I’m curious if this is even possible; Enterprise edition handing off the Domain settings to Windows 2003 standard.
