Windows Server 2003 Installation problems

I am having trouble installing Windows Server 2003. In the middle of copying files certain files come up as “unable to copy” and it offers to let me “try again” or “skip it” or “quit”. The first few times I quit and reran the installation but I get no further and the same files come up every time. So now in the process of running the recovery console I explored the CD and found the files are there but the extensions all end with an _ (underscore)example Wingding.ttf is on the CD as wingding.tt_. Can I copy these files to the appropriate location on the machine using the recovery console of do they have to be “installed” by by some process. it was 5 files at first then when the install hit 84% every file was coming up like this.
