Windows Server 2003 – joining domain error message ?

When I attempt to join a standalone server to a DC (that has Active Directory already), I receive the following error message when I get prompted by the Windows login screen:

Unkown User Name or bad password

I stopped/started the NetLogon service on the domain controller running Active Directory.

What is happening ? – any help is appreciated!
