Windows Storage Server

I have exhausted the information on google searches to try and assess whether the storage files on an hp proliant ML110 G2 windows storageserver can be accessed vpn-connected users. I presume you can just map the drive and when you vpn onto the network you can still use the mapped drive. But i can?t afford to take the risk of no vpn usage as that is our primary I.T need at the moment. I have also found it difficult to find information on the licensing of this product can anyone point me in the right direction. Thanks for your help.
