We have just completed an upgrade of Novell Netware from 6.0 to 6.5 and, in the process, upgrading all clients to version 4.91. All 150+ workstations are Windows XP Pro.
When we rolled out the new client to the workstations, we discovered that there are a small number of workstations and one Windows 2000 server that are having a peculiar problem.
When a user returns to the locked workstation and enters their NDS password, the workstation will appear to go into immediate shutdown mode “Savings your settings…” etc. However, it does not actually shut down or anything. The workstation is frozen and unresponsive at that point and must be manually power cycled.
This is an inconvenience for our workstations users, but it is a real problem for the one server that is experiencing this issue.
If anyone has experienced or is aware of a solution to this issue, I would greatly appreciate your assistance.
