Windows Vista: Internet connection with the server was not successful

One of my customer keeps receiving a pop-up stating the following:

“Internet connection with the server was not successful. You can still run your devices. However, you will not be able to receive any automatic updates.”

I cannot find anything online to remedy the situation and the box seems to pop-up mutliple times.

Any help would be great appreciated.

FYI: He does not receive this pop-up when connected via a Verizon Aircard.
