Ok I’ll try to explain this the best that I can. I downloaded a program and installed it (I know I know please dont flame), and mind you my anti virus did not alert me to any issues. When the program was done installing, it prompted for a restart and I obliged. When the computer loaded up, all was normal till when the logon screen normally would come on, at which point the screen just goes blank and all is unresponsive.
So, my first idea was safe mode. I booted into safe mode, and it shows the logon screen but the computer is still completely unresponsive, mouse doesnt move.
Tried the recovery partition next, and found that since I dont have a backup of my data, I would lose it all since the recovery partition would reformat and that is simply not an option for me.
Next, I burned an ISO of the Windows Recovery Center to a disc and booted from it. The automatic repair fails to fix the problem, so I tried a restore point. There were 5 available, including one right before the software was installed. When I try to use any of them, I am told ‘System Restore failed due to an unspecified error. Cannot create a file when that file already exists. (0x800700B7)’
I am at a complete loss with how to go about restoring my computer without losing my data. Anyone Please help!!!
