Windows XP and HP Printer Problem

I have set my home computer up with me as the administrator and my four kids are users with limited access. I have tried to install our HP Officejet 5510 all-in-one with USB, but the computer cannot locate the printer. When my kids go in to print, it prints, but only black and white. I have replaced both cartridges, but it still doesn’t work. When I print an alignment page it prints fine and the printer aligns itself, but still no color. Any suggestions????
