Windows XP does not recognise my network card/adapter

by vhartjes . Updated 19 years ago

Hi all,

I am in dire need of help.

My PC (desktop) was running on Windows XP SP2 and all of a sudden died on me 🙁

The PC froze and then when re-booting it kept on looping to restart in combination with blue-screening.

I managed to re-install Windows XP again (SP2 included on CD) but now have two problems (one being the major issue):
– MAJOR issue: my PC now no longer can create a network connection with the ADSL (no network connections listed and when requesting the ipconfig it gives me nothing, i.e. no IP address). I think I have it narrowed down to one out of two issues: either Windows does not recognise the network card/adapter OR the router broke down (have reset it, but to no avail). Can anybody help me???
– Minor issue (but annoying): when re-booting the PC, sound comes out of my speakers but once I am back into Windows the PC doesn’t recognise the speakers connected. I don’t think it’s a sound card issue because when I connect my headset through the USB port, the sound does come out properly through the headset).

Anyway, any help is REALLY appreciated, especially on the network connection as without it I can’t do anything 🙁

Thanks so much in advance & best regards,

Vivian
