Windows XP Home and IP address

I have a client who has XP Home edition and for some reason it will not obtain an IP from the router. I apply a static IP to connect to the other workstations but I can not get to the internet I set the DNS’s and gateway. I can’t even PING to the outside, but I can ping the other workstation and attach to them. Yet all other computers work fine on the same network. I look at IPCONFIG /ALL and all looks well with static IP
ANY IDEAS?
