In my company, one of our laptop users have a strange printing issue I cannot figure out. What happens is they leave work with their laptop on, go to a customer site, then come back. When they come back, they cannot print to any printer (they have full network access, can check e-mails, connect to shared files, ping the printers and servers, etc.) and get an error stating that the printer’s network address is invalid.
This is a laptop specific problem (as opposed to just the single user account), as I was able to replicate it under my user account by disconnecting the network cable and turning the wireless adapter off. After reconnecting the network cable, I too could not print on that laptop.
I restarted the print spooler service, but that did not fix the problem. The only thing that seems to fix the problem is either logging off, making sure the network cable is connected or wireless enabled, then log back in (or just restart the laptop).
Any suggestions?
