Windows XP On Domain changes Print behaviour

by jason.hicks . Updated 17 years, 11 months ago

I have a local printer that uses text macro commands in the print job that are stripped out by the driver and used to do a function on the pritner (ie magntic encode cards) prior to printing.

This behaviour works perectly in Windows XP (SP2) in a workgroup network.

If I change the network to be a domain network the driver no longer srtips the encoding macros and prints them instead.

The fact that the printer prints ok seems to indicate all the security settigns are fine.

I have tried a different brand printer with different drivers (user mode vs kernal mode) with the same result.

Upgrading he client PC to Vista in the same domain resolves the problem.

does anyone have any pointers on what this may be ?

Sounds like security settigns or bug in XP….
