I used the instructions here:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/315231
…to set up some of our computers to auto login. We do not have a domain here, btw.
I tested to make sure the auto login worked correctly after I set it up and it did.
I observed some time later that the auto login was now failing. When checking regedit, I found another user’s password entered as the DefaultPassword!!! The auto login account is set so the password doesn’t expire and the user cannot change the password. Neither account (the user nor the auto login) are a member of administrators…only “users”.
Any idea what is going on here? I need to remedy this before I set some other computers here to auto login. Sort of defeats the purpose if the auto login password changes on its own. This has happened on two separate computers now. The only commonality is the user whose password ends up in the DefaultPassword key sometimes logs onto that computer with his own account.
I have tried searching for information on this for several days now and cannot find anything on this. Help, please.
