Windows XP Pro BSOD – Outlook 2003 related?

by tech_lady . Updated 17 years, 8 months ago

PLEASE HELP! I have a user on my network that got a brand new Dell Latitude D830 laptop which came pre-installed with XP Pro. I added MS Office 2003 and our network uses Trend Micro Client Server for A/V protection, so the TM client was also installed. All other users run all of the same additional software without problems. I then joined the machine to the domain, set the user’s profile up as a roaming profile so she could keep her settings for Outlook, etc. She logged in and everything went smoothly (connected through the wireless adapter) until BSODs started taking down the PC about twice a day pretty quickly after setting it up.

Thinking it was hardware related, I ran all kinds of diagnostics – memory checks, Dell’s diagnostics, Prime95 to test the CPU, installed Speedfan and monitored temps, etc., etc. Everything passed, but the crashes continued. Nothing shows in the system or application event logs.

I contacted Dell and they have replaced the laptop. I reinstalled our additional software on the replacement PC and put it on the network and she’s getting the SAME BSODs!

Blue Screen says IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, but no file reference is given. Codes are ***STOP: 0x0000000A (0x02020112, 0x0000001C, 0x00000001, 0x804F81CA) with the first number being the same but the ones in parentheses being different each time. I’ve looked at the error logs and nothing shows up.

It seems like it always happens when she has Outlook 2003 open. Could a corrupt Outlook profile cause this?

Any ideas? I’d appreciate some help as I’m not sure what to try next to remedy the issue. Thanks.
