Windows xp switch user

After logging into XP machine as an admin and then switching to a non admin user using switch user option, is your computer as vulnerable as if you?re actively signed in as administrator. I sometimes go back and forth between user account and administrator by using switch user option. Am I leaving door open for hackers or malicious content to run without my knowledge.
