Windows XP Windows directory is huge!

I don’t know why but all of the sudden, my Windows XP has been giving me a “Low disk space” message. I checked my C: drive and found that the Windows directory is now over 20GB. However when I select all of the files and folders (I do have hidden files selected as well) and click properties, the size is only 1.9 GB. Any ideas?
