Windows98(1st ed) Log Off Problem

I have a Windows 98 workstation connecting to a Windows 2k server and I recently installed Office 2k. I can connect to the network no problem. However, when I log off from the network, Windows screen turns blue for a couple of seconds and returns back to the desktop. One must select start: log off( 2 or 3 times) to log off.
