WinME doesn’t log on to MS Network

by nordeide . Updated 22 years, 8 months ago

Hi,

I have an IBM ThinkPad laptop with WinME installed. A Xircom PCMCIA network adapter is also installed. I use Client for MS Network and TCP/IP as protocol. The default login is MS Network.

When I start WinME, the PC starts directly in Windows without showing a MS Network login screen. I have gone through the tips I could find — the AutoLogon value in the registry, TweakUI’s Autologon feature, Microsoft’s KB article 141858. None of these has helped me, Windows still bypasses the logon screen.

I have even reinstalled WinME (from the Recovery CD) and installed all recommended updates from Windows Update, but with no effect.

I can access the Internet through the Xircom card, and the PC gets an IP address from the DHCP server without any problems. Only access to the local network is missing.

Anyone have an idea on how to make WinME log on to Microsoft Network?

Thanks!
