Hi, hoping someone can help with this, it’s a little odd trying to google for a specific problem. While browsing the internet and using Incredimail to compose a new message, my computer (Intel P4, 1.8ghz, 512DDR ram ATI AIW 8500 AGP) decided to “freak” out…it totally changed the language from English in my mail I was composing and everywhere else (desktop, browser, etc) looked like it was Chinese or Japanese text. I was afraid that I may have a virus, so the only thing that I knew to do was shut it down, as it was the only thing that I could read without being afraid of an unwanted program asking permission for installation. A few days prior, I just reinstalled Windows XP because I got windows explorer corruption from Pinnacle Studio 9/ATI card incompatibility, and am current on all SP2 updates. When booting it back up today, it booted normally in English, but did mention something about a program needing to be installed, and I didn’t download anything last night while browsing the net. I got online and ran Housecall from TrendMicro and it was having trouble loading some kind of scanner about half way thru the online scan, so it wouldn’t give me a report. I ran AVG antivirus scan and it found nothing. Googling this got me nowhere…anyone heard of anything like this happening before? My ATI card was giving me some kind of “VPU recover” error because of the Catalyst drivers I’m running, but they’re the most stable I can use if I want to use the ATI MMC software. I’m not sure what this could be if it’s not virus/malware related, unless it possibly has something to do with this graphics card giving me problems. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
