WinXP Name resolution

by maniskid . Updated 17 years, 1 month ago

One thing that I have ignored until now: If I have a multihomed computer say with the name of WORK1.

If I ping it it will always give me one IP address over the other for name resolution if I ping it (nb Adapter1 = 1.0.0.1 Adapter2 = 192.168.0.2).

Adapter1 is not connected to anything, its there for testing. However whenever I ping it it always returns the 1.0.0.1 IP which I don’t want. To get around it I can either disable the second card, and I managed to get around it using the HOSTS file.

What I want to do is prioritise one card over the other for name resolution. So that if I ping WORK1 I will always get 192.168.0.2
