Searched the discussions and could not find any posts relating to my problem. Apologies if a problem similar to this has been previously addressed.
On my Windows XP home network I have 2 laptops. One can print while connected to the network, either wireless or wired. The other can only print when connected wired.
On this problem laptop, printing from an application or the printer properties “Print Test Page” button does not result in a printed page. As soon as the RJ45 cable is inserted, any and all print jobs commence successfully.
When opening up the Printers and Faxes dialog, the printer shows as “Ready” on the problem laptop, even in wireless mode. Further, the IP address of the print server can be pinged successfully. But print jobs stay in the queue and will not print until the laptop is plugged in.
The problem laptop can “see” all resources on the network when it is wireless. It has no problems accessing the internet. When wireless, the problem laptop performs exactly as when it is wired…except for this one printing problem. The other laptop never has a problem when wireless, and printing.
The printer properties for this particular printer, including port settings, are identical on both laptops.
I know the solution….just stay plugged in when I want to print. 🙂 But I’ll bet someone out there has a better idea.
