Wireless Access Point

by prajeethpj1 . Updated 22 years, 2 months ago

Hi Guys!..

This is prajeeth frm dubai. I’m not much proficient in wireless networking. I have a question now.

I work for a travel company and my owner also a internet cafe besides our office. We r connected to the internet thru DSL 512K in Wingate server and all clients accessing internet thru it. We also connected our internet cafe 3 pc’s thru this internet DSL connection. Everything works fine.

But now Wireless demand in accessing internet is more. I gave a solution to my boss saying the below details.

1. buy 1 wireless access point SMC or US-robotics and connect the network points to it
2. configure the SSID in wireless accesspoint in all wireless clients and internet works fine.
3. my doubt is that when I put one network connection in SMC 7804WBRA and that this model has firewall features – is it possible for me separate my private frm public – I mean can I create private and public network thus enabling customers only 2 use internet not fiddling around our server or any clients. will this work or pls provide me a costeffective solution>.. Should I have to go for separate router and one dsl Line for internet cafe alone. I think that would increase all our costs. Guys kindly advise and I would b happy if u guys could send me advisable solution in this regard.

Thanks and regards
Prajeeth
