Wireless connection keps resetting

by martynbranch . Updated 18 years, 7 months ago

I have just helped a friend move hose and set up the wireless connection successfully and easily. After a week he had a problem and rang bt who did a lot of messing about and got the set-up back working. However it now switches off regularly. The solution is to go to the network connections properties and under the network management tab click on the small box next to where it says let windows XP handle this network connection. When you do that then everything is fine. Then without warning at some time later it will drop the connection again and this same box needs selecting again. It is as if some other software or virus takes control at some point and deselects it. As far as we can tell the PC is clear but am open minded as to whether is it as clean as the anti-virus software claims. Has anyone had anything similar happen?
