wireless issues os/10 Xp

I am trying to connect to the internet/fileshare through a wireless router. The laptop im using is a macbook that has XP installed on it. I can connect to the secured network with the network key but i cant connect to the internet. the setup is identical to other wireless laptops. I have tried to use automatic ip configurations as well as manual.
