Wireless Network Problems

by jeff . Updated 24 years ago

Here’s my problem:

I have a D-Link DI-711 Broadband Wireless Gateway/Firewall and mutiple D-Link DWL 120 USB adpaters. Most computers that have these adapters connect to the Internet just fine, but I have 2 computers(1 is WinXP PRO & 1 is Win98)that have trouble connecting to the Internet. What is perplexing is that on the WinXP Pro computer I can release and renew the IP address without a hitch. However, I cannot get IE to display a web page. When I view the Activity monitor for the wireless adapter I see that Packets are being sent but Packets Received is 0. Anyone that can provide me help with this matter will get the points that I have assigned to this question. Thanks in advance. Also, is there a good resource on setting upand configuring wireless networks? A resource that will tell me what pitfalls to avoid, what kind of interference with wireless I can expect and how to avoid that interference? Also, how many computers can access a wireless access point before there is an “overload”?

Thanks..
