Installing a Netgear Wireless Router (MR814v2) in my cousin’s home office. Actually reinstalling it. I had a brother printer, and a desktop connected to it.He is using DSL provided by SBC, which uses PPPOE. Here is what I am experiencing:
If i plug in the efficient networks mindstream 5100 modem to the the Router’s WAN port, I can not browse on the desktop or browswe on the laptop. It shows excellent signal on the laptop and that the desktop is connected at 100Mbps. I thought it could be the router not connecting because of the username/password, but the information saved on the router is correct. Now if i switch the cable into one of the LAN ports, I can surf the net and the laptop can surf as well. The printer isnt recognized; though it is recognized when the modem is plugged into the WAN port. All lights on the router are lit up and blinking when plugged in via both methods. Any suggestions or anything i am overlooking?
i experienced the same problem with a netgear device at my home with sbc as the carrier. i never got around to attempting to set up the network in my house again.
