A recent problem developed with a powered off IBM laptop with a 3COM WOL 10/100 ethernet mini PCI card connected to a 3COM 3300 10/100 Switch. Recently the adapter in the powered off laptop flooded the switch with broadcast packets (best guess) and caused the switch to have a buffer overflow bringing down the network. Has anyone seen this behavior? Anyone know if the WOL NIC will broadcast storm and what sets it off?
