workgroup is not listed in locate results when adding users to file sharing

Windows XP Pro
service pack 3
simple file sharing is off
2 computers in the workgroup
my network places shows the shared file
access denied when I click on it

when setting permission for the file I cannot see the workgroup name when I click the locate button. only the local machine.

help!!!
