For no “known” reason (ie I can’t remember doing anything silly) my computer (running XP Pro)started freezing this week. When ever I start Explore, Internet Explorer or right click and select ‘New’, my system will freeze for about 1 minute. Very frustrating as you can imagine.
After much hunting around (yay for msconfig) I found that when I don’t use the Workstation service, I don’t get the problem. Naturally however, I need to use this service to connect to the company network etc.
My question is then; is there a way to confirm the integrity/reinstall components for this service? or perhaps there is a deeper unerlying casue that the workstation service is simply triggering? (already tried reinstalling network card and TCP/IP settings)
Any help to aviod a full reinstall would be much appreciated.
