workstations not connecting to server2003smb after router install

Help! I have recently installed a 3com dsl secure gateway router in an office. There os is Win2k3SMB server and it is the domain controller.

The ip address are manually set.
The server ip is 192.168.1.2
subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.1.2
and primary dns is 192.168.1.2.

The rest of the workstations had the same subnet, gateway, and dns. After I installed the router I turned the routers dhcp on and change the workstations gateway to 192.168.1.253
and set primary dns to 192.168.1.2
and secondary dns to 192.168.1.253.

Every thing seems to be ok, but know the office manager says that they have to reboot the workstations a couple of times a day to get them to connect and be able to to use there software. They have trouble in accessing the shares on the server. I did not change anything on the server. If set every thing back to normal on the workstations no issue. I don’t have much experience with DC’s. Please help!
