XP internet brouser problems

I have a desktop using Windows XP and a DSL DLink modem. I have problems after I open explorer and try to go to another page. I have talked with my cable company and they said I had a bad connection coming into my home. So I ran new coax and replaced the mdem, stil have the same problem. I call the cable company back and they said all checked out good on their end and I should check my PC. I have ran spyware, ad ware and virus checks but have found nothing. I use this PC for remote control of a laptop at my office. It get access to the laptop I use Log Me In and it takes for ever to get access. Thanks for any help with this problem as I just dont know what else to try.
