XP-Remote Desktop Connection- connects to blue screen-no login

I have one particular computer with XP-Pro and when I try to connect to this computer using remote desktop connection over the network, I either connect to an all blue screen or occasionally I will get a login screen but then after I log in it goes to that all blue screen. I cant get to this one computers desktop. The connection is hanging up somewhere. I dont have SP2 installed on the maching because of issues with SP2 and our company software. I can connect to others just not this one. Is there a way to reinstall remote desktop connection? Any other suggestions?
