XP Search Companion?

My Windowsxp search feature has stopped working. I get a triangle, with “search companion” popup, and that’s it. You recently ran an article about repairing search and I thought I saved it, but it isn’t there Can you help? Before it stopped, I would receive an error message, but it worked.
