We currently have a Windows 2003 Server with AD up and running. It works great for the computers that log into the network using their domain accounts. Passwords are set to expire every couple of weeks and the user is prompted to change the password. All this works well.
I hit a problem with some consultants who come into our office to work for a few days every week. They have their own laptops with XP installed and need access to network resources such as shared folders and printers on the domain. I have set them all up as users with passwords and they search for the server and connect to the server without joing the domain and everything works fine.
BUT..
When a users password expires they are NOT prompted to change the password, they are simply denied access to the server. My question is how do I make it so they are prompted to change their password? At the moment they have to come to me and I have to change it manually on the server which is plain annoying.
