XP to XP – can’t share files one way

by dana803 . Updated 17 years, 6 months ago

Have a desktop and a laptop. The desktop has XP Home and the laptop has XP Pro.

If I share a file on the laptop, the desktop can access it, but when trying to share files and printers from the desktop, the laptop gets errors that it can’t access or find that network source, etc, but it can see the desktop’s machine name in network places. Just can’t double-click it to see shares and cannot add a printer that is shared on the desktop.

Checked that file and printer sharing is enabled. computers are in same workgroup. router is functioning. between the laptop and another xp laptop on the same network, file and printer sharing work fine. Seems to be an issue with the desktop not wanting to share… Yet, the desktop can access shares on the laptop.

Any suggestions? What could be the problem with this desktop that doesn’t want to share? LOL

Thank you!!!
