XP ws can’t connect to NW5.1 via IPX

Hi
I have a new workstation running XP that we have been setting up our applications on. We had the Novell client for XP V4.9 installed and all of
a sudden after installing Arcserve V7 management console and PRocomm Plus v4.8, we could no longer connect to the NetWare server. We have since uninstalled Procomm Plus, Arcserve console and the NetWare client and reverted back to the microsoft client for netware but still cannot connect. We have also tried the NW client ver 4.83SP1 2 and 3. Now what I thought was a problem was whenever we tried to go into the properties of NWLink and set the IPX address and frame type, it would hang. We tried doing this more than once and it hung every time. So I’m thinking one of these programs corrupted one of the IPX system files or a registry key somewhere but even after uninstalling the microsoft client for NW and reinstalling it, we can no longer connect, and it still hangs when trying to set the network number and frame type. As you can see we’ve tried uninstalling and reinstalling
several versions of NW client also Is there anything I can do about this? We were able to set the default protocol to IPX and also when we install the NW client we select IPX and TCP/IP. The NW5.1 server is running IPX only for application compatability as if it wasn’t for that, I would have switched the server to TCP/IP. Any ideas?

Thanks
Pete
