Yo get Folder option in tools menu

I use windows XP as my operating system. I had folder option in tools menu before some time.But now i dont have folder option in tools menu. I heard that it may be due to virus infection . I tried to recover it . I tried use the following procedure
Run-> gpedit.msc . But it shows “Snap in Failed to initialize” . so that cannot able to continue. What should i do to recover from this problem . Is there any alternate solution to get that option in tools menu.. Kindly help me..
