We are just beginning to build a Portfolio Management practice and would be interested in others experiences. Intellectually our executive staff understands the need to better manage our investments in technology, but still question; ?what?s in it for me?? According to the Gartner Program and Portfolio Management Maturity Model organizations don?t see any real payoff until level 2, which is defined as having all of the basic organizational structures (that is, basic project management and basic project- centered financial management) in place. I believe we have these in place, depending on your definition of ?basic?.
So, my question is; where are you in the process of building your Portfolio Management practice, and what benefits have you realized to date?
