100GB HD Query

I recently installed a 100GB hard disk, created a primary partition with FDISK using all available space, then formatted it under windows ( ME ).

The space on the disk reads as 92GB free – 97GB total, is there any way to get the disk formatted tothat all the disk space is useable????
