Abit kg7 raid usb problem

I built a new PC with an Abit KG7 raid board, 1.7 xp athlon and 512 DDR. 100G hard disk and 2x40G. Everything works except my usb. I have upgraded the bios and drivers including the filter as per Abit site. I have usb recognised and working properly in system properties device manager but nothing when I try to access my usb. I am running Win 98 se. As I have a usb adsl router this is a real problem. Can anyone help?
