About ready to Sware

I have just installed a cable Modem, to that I attached a Linksys BEFSR11 DSL router, to that a Synoptics 16 port hub. I attached 8 computers and 1 HP laserJet lllD printer which is attached to a HP JetDirect 500X print server. I have been able get all of the comuters connected to that network but I have not been able to connect the printer and I am not sure what I am doing wrong. Everything that I have tried so far has given me the error message that it can not see the printer connected to the network. While installing the print server I used the hardware ID or MAC address but the network still can not see the print/server connected to the hub. What am I missing here.
