Any views on current Video capture techn

I have recently been asked to identify a video capturing (hardware & software) solution for my manager. Our company provides training and intends to use the products to compile training packages as well as making our own advertising stuff. I simply don’t have the time to plough through the magazines looking at reviews and could do with some non-biased advice from someone who actually uses this technology rather than someone who writes reviews for a living.
