Armada EM Workstation, Armada E500

I have a Compaq E500 docked to an Armada EM workstation running Windows 98SE and connecting to a Novell and NT Domain.
the laptop experiences an extreme slow boot when docked but when removed from the docking station it boots up fine…any ideas?
