BackPack External CD-Roms

I’m trying to install a backpack cd-rom to a dell with win95. It does not recognize the cd but if I put the same cd-rom on a different system running win95 it does fine. I’ve changed all parallel ports and i’ve even changed the motherboard but stillno dice.I’m trying despritely am trying to hold on to the OS can anyone help . Thanks in advance, Scott.
