BIOs Virus

Help…

I have a computer that (I believe) has been infected by a BIOs virus. When I turn on the computer I am prompted to enter a password. When I attempt to enter a password, (I type one letter) it puts an X and jumps down. I can only do this three times. On the third attempt, I get the X with a smiley face.

Has anyone heard of such a virus? Is there a way to fix or do I have to buy a new motherboard/BIOs? If I do by a new Motherboard/BIOs should I also replace the Hard Drive so the new BIOs doesn’t get flashed, by the virus that apparently resides on my hard drive, again?
