Cannot detect modem

I have a PC with an internal modem yet the driver for it has been lost. I have just downloaded a driver from the internet of the right spec to floppy disk yet the computer will still not recognise it with the modem. How can I restore use of the modem? It has an Ambient MD5628D-L-A chipset and I got a driver from loper.intel.com/design/modems/support/drivers.htm.
