Cannot logon to Hotmail from server

I can get my Hotmail OK from the “client” computer. Only two computers on the network. But when I use the “server” I get re-enter password.

Or ‘service temporary unavailable’. WinXP Pro

I removed Messenger, but still have the problem.
No help from Microsoft!
