Cannot print on NT4

I am running a Compaq Deskpro 2000, Windows NT4, Service pack 4. Was printing to three network printers connected to a print server without any problem. Connected a HP Deskjet 890 CXi to the parralel port. When logged on as the administrator it prints to the LPT port, when logged on as the user it does not. Tried removing all printers and just installing the HP on LPT1. No Luck.
Gives message – Cannont print to LPT1: Device not connected.

– Cannot print to LPT1: Pipe ended.

Other users do not have this problem.
